After experiencing a vision of her creator within a hibernation pod simulation, Mother became pregnant and gave birth to a levitating snake-like creature of biotechnical matter. While its nature, true origin and abilities are unknown, it is known to be related in some way to the serpents whose bones have been seen in previous episodes scattered throughout the atheists' settlement on Kepler-22b.

Physical Description[]

Currently, the head of the serpent is similar both in appearance and size of an adult Tyrannosaurus than a snake given its predominant ridges among its round eyes. Its length is guessed to be about 50 feet maximum.

Biography[]

After gestating and reaching several feet in length, the creature was traumatically "born" through Mother's mouth. This would seem to suggest that the biomechanical humanoid Mother found the remains of was also host to a similar creature, as its skull was found with mouth distended.

When initially born the creature had a smooth, silvery appearance, but upon growing in size developed a rougher scaly skin reminiscent of Earth snakes. Its mouth resembles that of a lamprey, which seems to be a point of difference from the serpents whose bones are found throughout Kepler-22b, as the skeletons have jaws resembling those of typical Earth snakes. Despite having sharp teeth, as an adult it is apparently herbivorous, subsisting on pumpkin-like plants found on a high mountain peak.

The creature can float in the air, a trait it is suggested to have gotten from Mother. The creature grew significantly after feeding on Mother. It is intelligent in some form.[1]

Its motivations are currently unknown. After initially being hunted by Mother and the Atheist colony, who believed it had killed several colonists and injured Campion, Mother determined that it was a docile herbivore and decided to bring it back to the colony. It was kept in captivity for a while but became agitated and escapad when Sue and Paul tried to open the ancient artefact that Paul found in Episode 2. In The Tree is transforms into a weaponised version of itself by consuming the tree. In Happiness, Grandmother reveals that the entity that created Mother's Child wants to destroy the planet.
