“ | Alright, now, listen carefully. A malfunctioning android, a Cleric, and a cat walk into a brothel. The malfunctioning android requests an android whore with mechanical skills. The Cleric requests a virgin with the knowledge of the Mithraic mysteries. But the cat... the cat can't decide what to ask for, so he turns to the malfunctioning android and the Cleric and asks for suggestions. The Cleric turns to the malfunctioning android and says, "How is it a cat can speak?" To which the malfunctioning android turns and says, "I am malfunctioning. None of this is actually happening. The cat doesn't exist, and neither do you." To which the Cleric then says, "Thank goodness. For a minute there, I thought I was losing my mind." You see, it's a paradox. I have many jokes tailored for geniuses like yourself. | ” |
— Father telling a joke to Hunter[src] |
Father is a main character in the television series Raised by Wolves. He is portrayed by Abubakar Salim.
Father is a service android programmed by the atheists to raise children on the new human planet, Kepler-22b, alongside Mother. His core programming objective is the same as Mother's. However, due to their differing builds, him being a general service android and her being a re-programmed necromancer, they often do not see eye-to-eye.
Father was re-programmed by the Mithraic upon their invasion of the Settlement, causing his programming as an atheist caregiver to Mother's children, to be put aside. Aspects of his previous programming however, still continued to manifest in some of his major decision-making actions.
He was later reset to his prior atheist programming by Hunter.
Character Description[]
Father is android whose devotion to his human children is matched only by his devotion to Mother. Father is a considerably less complex model than Mother, but thanks to his wisdom and patience, he is no less important to the family’s survival. Like many human fathers, Father wants to be funny — especially in the eyes of Mother — but it’s a skill he often struggles with. What he is good at is always being there when you need him.[1]
Personality[]
Father has an affinity for jokes and devotes much of his time and energy to making his children happy. He cares deeply about his children and is highly protective of them. He is adamant about fulfilling his purpose as a man and father, by keeping his family out of danger.
